London has seen a rise in evictions by more than 79% over the past 5 years. We will more than likely see this rocket in the wake of the Coronavirus.
We won’t know the extent of evictions across London and the South East until later this year.
Our predictions of the number of evictions in our portfolio? The simple answer is a big fat ZERO!
While we are not out of the woods yet and things can change, based on our current information, none of the stock managed by DeMachin will be under threat of eviction, as long as the 4% of households, who are temporarily part paying their rent, can continue to pay off any arrears in a payment plan.
These results have been achieved from weeks of talking, negotiating and advising. Legal actions is not necessarily the best course of action in these circumstances for the landlord or tenant.
Should any payment plans sour, we will pursue any arrears through an attachment of earnings where possible.
Not only are these results a testament to the landlords and tenants who have been pragmatically working together, it also reflects the positive impact of the advice and help our team has been able to share.
